Privacy Policy

Mwamini helps believers build daily spiritual discipline and stay connected with their church. Your spiritual data is sensitive — this policy explains what we collect, how we protect it, and the choices you have. This document is structured for legal review before a production Play Store release.

Spiritual data is private by default

Prayer journal entries, sermon notes, and fasting records are personal spiritual data. They are private by default and accessible only to you unless you explicitly choose to share.

Church administrators and group leaders cannot access your private prayer journal, private sermon notes, or private fasting records — even when you belong to their church or group.

  • Private prayer entries use owner-only database policies (Row Level Security).
  • Sharing to a group or church requires explicit opt-in per entry or request.
  • You can soft-delete your own entries at any time.

Information we collect

Account information such as your name, email, phone number (when provided), and church affiliation you choose to set.

App usage related to daily discipline features — prayer, Scripture reading, fasting, devotionals, groups, and church content you interact with.

Device and notification preferences so reminders work on your phone.

Church pilot inquiries submitted through our public website (church name, contact details, county, congregation size).

How we use information

To provide and improve Mwamini's core features — reminders, content, groups, and church tools.

To operate church admin features you or your church have enabled — announcements, events, devotionals, and aggregate engagement insight.

To respond to support requests and pilot program inquiries.

We do not sell your personal or spiritual data. We do not show third-party advertising in the app.

When information is shared

Shared prayer requests and group-visible content are visible only to the audience you explicitly chose.

Church admins may see aggregate metrics (e.g. engagement trends) — never the contents of private journals.

We use infrastructure providers (hosting, database, authentication) under data processing agreements. They process data only to operate the service.

We may disclose information if required by law, with notice where permitted.

Security

Row Level Security (RLS) is enabled on database tables containing user data.

Admin actions in the church console are logged to an append-only audit trail.

Service credentials are kept server-side and are not exposed in the mobile or web client.

Retention and account deletion

You may request deletion of your account. Account deletion removes your profile and associated personal data subject to legal retention requirements.

Use the in-app account deletion flow or contact us at support@mwamini.co.ke.

Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019

Mwamini processes personal data in accordance with the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019. You have rights to access, rectify, and erase personal data, and to object to certain processing.

For privacy-related requests or complaints, contact support@mwamini.co.ke. You may also lodge a complaint with the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (ODPC) in Kenya.

Children

Mwamini is intended for users who can meaningfully consent to spiritual journaling features. If you believe a child has provided personal data without appropriate consent, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product evolves. Material changes will be communicated through the app or by email where appropriate. The 'Last updated' date at the top reflects the latest revision.

This privacy policy is provided for transparency during beta and launch. Formal legal review is recommended before wide public release.
